Immigration Medicals

New Windsor Medical Centre is approved by Immigration New Zealand as a provider of Immigration Medicals for all age groups. The e-medical applications are processed electronically through New Zealand Immigration’s eMedical system. Appointment booking process for pre-exam, photos and paperwork will take 30 minutes. After you consult with the Panel Doctor for physical examination, this process will take 30 minutes.  Please make sure to arrive atleast 10 min before, for your appointment.

When you are booking for an immigration medical, we kindly request you to deposit $50 to confirm your appointment. This $50, deposited towards your appointment, will be deducted from the total cost of your immigration medicals, when you complete your appointment with the doctor. Please note that this is a non-refundable charge in case you decide to cancel your appointment or if you do not attend your appointment

Please note your Immigration Medical cannot be completed by your regular GP. If NWMC is your regular GP, your Immigration Medical cannot be completed with New Windsor Medical Centre.

If your immigration application is initiated with another provider, we recommend you to complete your application with the same provider.

All under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Please do provide legal documents if you are the legal guardian.

Full Immigration Medicals:
All age group will need a medical examination from the panel doctor.
Some age groups may or may not need X ray and or blood tests*

Bring with you for your appointment:

  • Original valid passport and a relevant communication for Immigration NZ
  • Passports need to be currently valid, we cannot accept expired passports.
  • Relevant documents requests from Immigration NZ
  • Medical history from your doctor and any reports from your specialist if applicable.
  • Laboratory Testing – A urine sample is required, please drink adequate fluids before your appointment. Avoid having your medical check if you have menstruation, it is advisable to book 3 days after.
  • Women – If you are pregnant bring any documents from your doctor or midwife along with scans and laboratory results.
  • Glasses or contact lenses -required for eye test onsite,
  • Follow up tests -Any additional tests required or requested by Immigration will be charged additionally.

Chest x-ray will be completed off site by our radiology providers.
Once we receive your results, the Panel Doctor will review the results, complete, and submit the Immigration Medical documents online. A copy of the report will be provided only upon request by the applicant.

Interpreter

If you require interpreting services, you are responsible to arrange the interpreter to attend with you for your appointments. Immigration NZ has advised that friends, colleagues or family members are not acceptable as interpreter, although they are welcome to attend with you to act as your support person.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. How do I book my immigration medical and is there a deposit?
    To confirm your appointment, a $50 deposit is required. This will be deducted from your total cost when you complete your medical. Please note this is non-refundable if you cancel or do not attend your appointment.
    2. Can my regular GP complete my immigration medical?
    No. Immigration medicals must be completed by an approved panel doctor. If New Windsor Medical Centre is your regular GP, we cannot complete your immigration medical. If your application is already initiated with another provider, we recommend completing it with them.
    3. What should I bring to my appointment?
    • Valid passport (cannot be expired)
    • Any communication or documents requested by Immigration NZ
    • Medical history from your GP and any specialist reports (if applicable)
    • Glasses or contact lenses (for the eye test)
    • Pregnant patients: bring documents from your doctor/midwife, scans and lab results
    • Drink enough fluids before your appointment for a urine sample (avoid booking during menstruation—book at least 3 days after)
    4. What does the immigration medical involve?
    All age groups need a medical examination by a panel doctor. Some may also need blood tests and/or a chest X-ray (done off-site at our radiology partner). Any extra tests requested by Immigration NZ will incur additional charges. Once results are received, our doctor will review, complete, and submit them online to Immigration NZ. A copy can be given upon request.
    5. Are there any special requirements for children or interpreting services?
    Patients under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian (bring legal documents if applicable). If you need an interpreter, you must arrange a professional interpreter—Immigration NZ does not allow friends, colleagues, or family members to interpret, though they may attend as support persons.
